Oodaru Waterfall at Amagiso 大滝温泉

天城荘

Mixed Hot Spring Pools Meters away from Oodaru Waterfall!! The Oodaru Waterfall hot spring 大滝温泉 is located inside Amagiso 天城荘 which is a hotel. We came here after a nice 1-hour walk from Mizudare 水垂 Bus Stop to see all the other six Kawazu Waterfalls. It was an amazing experience, feeling the cool spray of the fall while soaking in warm water, with the calming sounds of the river flow and the fall.

For the 6 outdoor hot spring pools plus 2 in caves and 1 cold one, it's 1500 yen plus 300 yen if you need to rent a towel. There are a few other packages for 2000 yen or 3000 yen if you want to use the indoor hot spring pools, shower facilities, or the outdoor swimming pool by the river. Swimsuits and bathrobes are also available as you need swimwear to use the outdoor hot spring pools.

Oodaru Waterfall

The pools are of varying degrees of hotness, the one next to the fall being the least warm. There are 3 cascading hot spring pools by the river, 2 more covered ones that are hotter and 2 others in "caves". The coin lockers outside the shared changing rooms are 200 yen each. You have to walk downhill for a few minutes to reach the fall/pools so you need to wear slippers. We spent 2 hours here, which was enough to chillax in all the outdoor pools.

The bus stop for Shuzenji/Kawazu called Oodaru Iriguchi (大滝入口) is right across the street. The last bus back to Shuzenji is at 5:30 pm (16:46/ 15:26/ 14:36 / 13:56/ 13:11 before that). There are 1 or 2 buses per hour and apparently it's not in operation during the summer holiday so make sure you check.
